How UTEC became on Hashi´s investor
¡Hello! I´m Gonzalo Waisman and I write to you from Perú. Maybe you think I´m eating ceviche or visiting Machu Picchu, but not. Let me tell you how Hashi´s market ended up expanding to Perú.
How it started?
It was a February affternoon in my room in Miami. I was looking to sell mi car on Facebook Marketplace when I saw an ad about a fund of Peru, called UTEC, announcing a call for start-ups where they were offering $100.000 in investment.
→Always I see this opportunities, I apply because i´m a big fan and I recommend applying to two or three contests per week to build a portfolio with the typical answers to those questions.
What happened after I signed up?
A week after I signed up, they asked me to do a pich in a call that lasted eight minutes. The problem was there were 500 start-ups; they selected 25 and then only 11 to receive the funding.
May arrived...
I had been confirmed that on May 1st, they will announce the selected start-ups but that day I had a flight to Argentina too. While I was flying, UTEC sent to me an email confirming that we had been selected. Being on a flight for eight hours without internet connection, I didn´t read it.
So when I arrived to Argentina, instead of writing to my parents, the first thing that I did was come into the mail and reed "Hi Gonzalo, thank you for participate this month...". I started to overthink I wasn´t selected because it seems like a bad notice.
Until I read "we are interested to invest on Hashi". But there was a requirement: I had to spend the next three months on Peru. At first I was shocking because I recently had arrived to Argentina and I had to spend another three months on Peru.
→It is important, as an entrepreneour, you live in a light form to could make those sudden life changes
How were those three months on Peru?
The results what Hashi had was amazing:
- We grown 120%.
- On Hashi we were 7 and now we are 21.
- We quadruple customer and the income.
- Today we have five Peruvian investors including two funds.
- We obtained the first ten customers from Perú, it was a lifechanging program.
In this great year, UTEC selected 7 out of 11 companies to invest in, and we were one of them. Today we have the excellent news that at the beginning of November, they will choose one of those 11 companies to double their investment.
Guess who they chose? Hashi, once again.
Until today there are 7 months in Perú, not just of Hashi´s growth, but also personal growth. I emphasize the idea of living lighty, as an entrepreneur´s life can change a lot quickly.
Honestly, I don´t know how much longer I will be in Perú, but I definitely don´t regret clicking on that ad. I think I have to post something else on Marketplace.
Thanks for read, see you later.
